Guys, I’m happy. Like so so happy right now. Do you wanna know why?
Do ya, do ya, do ya?
Okay okay fine I’ll tell you….it’s because I found a sweetened condensed milk recipe that is almost HALF the amount of calories of regular condensed milk. I KNOWWW! Let’s just drop everything and celebrate with some margaritas right now, meet you in 5.
Okay, I know most of you really aren’t that excited about it but for me, this is huuuuuge deal considering I use calorie tracking as a basis for losing/maintaining weight.
This is especially great because condensed milk happens to be one of my guilty pleasures. I remember waaaay back (like a year ago) when I used to literally use baking as an excuse to scrape the life out of the condensed milk can and slurp it clean. Just the thought of doing that now makes me cringe! Ugh condensed milk, y u no low calorie?
Now, I understand that sweetened condensed milk is going to be relatively high calorie no matter which way you look at it because it’s basically a can full of sugar and a *sprinkle* of milk…or at least that’s what it tastes like (no complaints here). This is why I usually opt to substitute it for something less calorie dense when I get the chance but there are just some recipes that absolutely need it….like my upcoming recipe for this week 😉 So with that, I went out on a cyber hunt to find a homemade condensed milk recipe that tastes exactly like the real thing without all the extra cals and ding ding ding, we found a winner! Thanks to this recipe, we now have a condensed milk that racks up to be 85 calories per 2 tbs instead of 130!
Alright guys, let’s go. *shimmies to the kitchen*
