These Chocolate Orange Overnight oats are amazing for so many reasons. One of them being the fact that they literally take 5 minutes to make. Another reason is because they're literally ready to grab and go in the morning (my kind of food written all over it). Finally, because it literally tastes like you're eating a bowl full of chocolate orange desserty goodness for breakfast. Need I say more...really?
I actually discovered overnight oats during Fall last year while I was surfing Pinterest, procrastinating *cough*...uh I mean taking a break from doing my college assignments. My immediate thoughts were "WHERE HAS THIS BEEN ALL MY LIFE?!" The idea of being able to just throw a bunch of ingredients into a mason jar, shake it up and toss it into the refriegeator where it would be waiting to make my day the next morning was like a dream come true.
I'm a huuuuuuge oatmeal fan, mainly because my days are usually long and I love the fact that they keep you full for quite a while which prevents me from over-snacking. Just like regular oatmeal, overnight oats are infinitely customizable when it comes to flavors, add ins and all that jazz. I personally decided to take the dessert route for this recipe, resembling one of my favorite chocolates from back home in Britain. If you've ever had the pleasure of trying a Terry's Chocolate Orange, you'll understand what I mean when I say YUM! These Chocolate Orange Overnight Oats literally do an awesome job at bringing all of those delicious flavors together in perfect breakfast harmony.
The texture of overnight oats is also surprisingly great. Before I ever tried the overnight oat route, one of the things that I was curious about was the texture. Would they be super soggy? Too thick? Basically a mason jar of glorified baby food? Thankfully this is NOTHING like that, shout out to that Greek yog for adding that perfect creamy texture tho.
